A Message from our President

"If you want to succeed, double your failure rate." --Thomas Watson, founder of IBM
"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." --Thomas Edison
Success and failure. One is so elusive, the other so abundantly prevalent in the world of romance writing. Imagine a place you could go to surround yourself with others on the same journey you're taking, a place free of doubt and cynicism, a safe haven for the dreamer in you.
Colorado Romance Writers (CRW) is just such a place. We have almost 100 members at various stages in their writing careers, from best-selling authors to those writing their first drafts of their first stories. Our members are college students and retirees, men and women. We write romantic suspense, paranormals, fantasy, sci-fi, historical, inspirational, Christian, erotic, gay, and short and long contemporary romance fiction. Our members are full-time authors and part-time authors with day time jobs in a variety of industries. Our authors are published through e-publishers, small presses and large New York houses.
We are as diverse a group as it is possible to be. And every month, we come together to meet and discuss our work, share the good and bad news about our writing efforts, network, and attend a lecture or workshop. If you're writing romance fiction, in any of its many forms, you are welcome to join us.
CRW offers opportunities to hone your craft with access to information about the romance industry, the business of writing, market news, critique groups and much more. This year, CRW's biennial conference takes place at the Greystone Castle in Denver in May. You'll have an opportunity to meet and pitch your work to several of our visiting agents and editors.
We also offer members two nationally recognized writing contests, a monthly newsletter full of informative articles, and a library overflowing with excellent workshop tapes, CDs and books. We have an annual writing retreat in Manitou Springs in September. Every October we host a Romance Lover Appreciation Tea where we fete our booksellers, librarians, and readers. Our published members can participate in Romance CONNECTIONS in the Rockies, a free monthly newsletter sent to an ever growing list of subscribers that details our authors' public appearances, reviews, news, and interviews.
The best thing of all that CRW offers its members, however, is the opportunity to be with other writers-- people who understand your driving need to write and who will encourage you to keep putting pen to paper, even after your 40th or 400th rejection.
No matter where you are in your writing journey, join us for a meeting and consider making CRW your writing home!
